WorldSkills UK 2016 to feature air conditioning event
Refrigeration and air conditioning competition to be hosted by WorldSkills UK 2016
WorldSkills UK 2016 will feature a refrigeration and air conditioning competition for the first time since 2013 after an intense and comprehensive process.
The WorldSkills UK competitions aim to inspire young people and apprentices to hone their industry skills in order to achieve a level of excellence within their field. For the first time in three years, young apprentices in refrigeration and air conditioning will have a chance to show off their talent and abilities in front of a national audience.
Dr Neil Bentley, Chief Executive of WorldSkills UK, said the organisation has a new organising committee which will manage all aspects of the UK competitions. One of the new committee members is Datateam Business Media Group, which is represented by Paul Ryder, who has been chosen to represent the organising committee.
The competitions, including refrigeration and air conditioning, are now open for entry. The qualifying heats will be held across the country throughout spring and summer; and the final will take place at an exciting event held at the NEC Birmingham in November.
Successful refrigeration and air conditioning entrants will not be able to compete at the WorldSkills Competition in Abu Dhabi in 2017, but they could win a place in the 45th WorldSkills Competition which will be held in Kazan, Russia, in 2019.
Dr Bentley commented: “We are delighted to confirm that refrigeration air conditioning is returning to the WorldSkills UK competition portfolio for the forthcoming cycle… great news for the future development of the industry.”
