Businesses can benefit from air conditioning inspections

Air conditioning inspections could help your business to save money

In regulation with the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), businesses are legally obligated to carry out an air conditioning inspection by an accredited Energy Assessor every five years.

The air conditioning inspections are designed to test the efficiency of your system; failing to carry out an inspection can result in a £300 fixed penalty fine. The accredited Energy Assessor which you hire to inspect your system will perform two tasks:

  • A visual assessment of the air conditioning system
  • A technical examination of the system’s controls and equipment

When the inspection is over, your accredited Energy Assessor will present you with a report detailing the following useful information, which could help your business to save money:

  • the level of efficiency with which your system currently runs
  • advice on how to improve the efficiency of the system
  • any faults and how these can be fixed
  • suggestions of how to reduce air conditioning use

Businesses are not obliged to follow through with any of the suggestions but they must send their air conditioning report to an enforcement authority, otherwise a fine of £200 could be issued.

An accredited and professional Energy Assessor will recommend ways to improve the efficiency of your air conditioning system, which could reduce long-term energy costs and increase the lifespan of your air conditioning set-up.
